Last few days I was working on a problem reported by my customer. Finally, I have decided to create my customer’s environment to debug the problem they were facing. After going through several steps to set up the GP environment (up to the same GP service pack level), I was ready to synchronize the account framework and login to GP application to troubleshoot the issue. At this point, I ran into the following error message while I was login to GP application–

“An available update may be required for your computer, but the update process couldn’t verify information. Contact your system administration for additional information.”

(this happened only when you login to GP and not with GP utilities…)

I immediately knew that this error has something to do with Dynamics GP client update. I queried SYUPDATE table in DYNAMICS database and found 2 entries with UNC path pointing to my customer’s environment. Initially I was little hesitant to delete the records. So I reached out to the GP community and searched in all the blogs that I follow. I have attached two link at the bottom of my blog that gave me all the answers that needed. Thanks to Doug Pitcher and Scott Emick for their wonderful blog article.

Microsoft Convergence 2013 is over for another year and we are all back to our daily routines. Convergence is always a unique experience for me. It’s a week long conference that helps you understand more about Microsoft Dynamics product line (GP| AX| NAV|SL| CRM) through general sessions, individual sessions and deep-dive sessions. These sessions are loaded with valuable information and in-depth demonstrations of the respective product lines. Another great thing about convergence is to network with Microsoft executives, partners, ISV’s and customers. In addition, you have the unique opportunity to connect with peers in similar situations.

This year was out tenth consecutive sponsership of the event. Based at expo booth # 2256 we showcased two of our products in our booth, Eclipse Royalty & Rights Management System and our new web-based portal (Eclipse Dynamics Portal), which is designed specifically for Microsoft Dynamics GP that provides enhanced capabilities of the standard ERP product(s). EDP is designed to provide enhancements to standard GP features for companies that process high volumes of transactions or require more flexibility in the manner of recording information. The software can greatly enhance the productivity and reduce redundant entry across multiple companies.

I was very pleased to meet a few of our long-standing customers and spend time discussing about our products and the services. I enjoyed speaking with Ryan Hallett from Monotype, Michael and Brad from American Technical Publishers, Alex Lewis and David Roselle from Team Beans & Forever Collectibles, Andy Skipton from Logos and Neil Smith from Zillow.

I was also delighted to meet Mr. Sivakumar Venkataraman, a former two time MVP for Microsoft Dynamics GP and a very excellent blogger in the Dynamics GP community. Check out his blog, Interesting Findings and Knowledge Sharing. Siva is one among the many GP product experts and a well-known blogger that I follow regularly. It was a great pleasure to meet and chat with him about the GP product and his new role in Microsoft as a partner technical consultant.

See you next year in Atlanta, Georgia, USA from 03/04/2014 to 03/07/2014.

We are proud to announce the official release of the Eclipse Royalty and Rights Management System (ERRMS) for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013. Dynamics GP 2013 builds on a strong product foundation and introduces significant new and enhanced features and capabilities across the solution, including an innovative new web client. Since the release of Dynamics GP 2013 in December 2012, we have been working hard to ensure that we develop and enhance ERRMS so that it integrates seamlessly with the latest Microsoft Dynamics GP software.

ERRMS for Dynamics GP 2013 is loaded with enhancements, specifically in the areas of royalty payments and royalty expense deductions. In the royalty payments area, there is an enhanced royalty advance recoupment and reserve for return calculation process. Users can now set up partial advance recoupment against the earned royalty amount. The partial recoupment can be based on a fixed amount or a percentage of total payable royalty earning. The enhanced reserve for return handles reserve withholding and reserve liquidation based on distribution channel.

Other important features in this release include:

Manual advance payment entry

Manual expense entry

Enhanced rights transaction entry – the system can now calculate royalty earnings based on net or gross revenue earnings

Flexibility to select “Post through general ledger” for all General Ledger transactions

Supported calculation of Bad Debt deduction based on distribution channels

Revised SQL Reports

Full compatibility with the new Dynamics GP 2013 web client.

To speak to us about the enhancements in ERRMS for Dynamics GP 2013, call us on +1 201 210 8264 or +1 201746-6255 ext. 201
